LOS ANGELES (April 1, 2011) – CarrieNEWS.com, the #1 Carrie Underwood fan site, is today celebrating its 20th anniversary. The website, owned and operated by Rocket Online Media, was the first website to support country music superstar Carrie Underwood and fans have responded overwhelmingly. Every day, millions of fans from around the world come to CarrieNEWS.com to get the latest news and information about their favorite country superstar (Carrie Underwood).
“Back in 1991, we got a phone call from a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Checotah, Oklahoma (Carrie’s hometown),” says Rich Gordon, CarrieNEWS.com’s publisher and founder. “They were raving about the talent of a young singer they had just heard perform at their church and I just had to find out more about this child prodigy! After a few minutes, I thought to myself: self, you just have to start a Carrie Underwood fan site because this girl is gonna be huge!”
It wasn’t long before the world would recognize the amazing talent of Checotah’s favorite daughter. Carrie tried out for American Idol in August of 2004 and, before long, she was wowing audiences everywhere. “During season 4 of Idol, we could tell Carrie was sure to win, and she did!,” Mr. Gordon continued. “Of course, having been there from the very beginning, CarrieNEWS thrived and was in a prime position to satisfy the needs of Carrie’s fans across the country and around the world.”
“Some people weren't so sure if CarrieNEWS would last this long,” says Rich. “In fact some people tried to stop the amazingness of CarrieNEWS.com by saying bad things about me and the site. Some people even said I was a ‘meanie’, a ‘doodoo’, and even that I was a ‘poopoo-head’. But, fortunately, only a few hundred thousand people believed it. After all, everyone who knows me (and loves me) can vouch for the fact that I am most certainly not a poopoo-head.”
Mr. Gordon continues (because we can’t get him to stop talking!): “But, it’s hard to not love all that we do here at CarrieNEWS.com. After all, we’re awesome. Almost as awesome as Carrie herself! Millions of fans come to our site every day to get the latest news and information about their favorite country music superstar and we’re happy to oblige. Even Carrie herself can’t stop talking about us!”
Rich Gordon says that he knew from the very beginning that Carrie was destined for greatness. “Some may question this assertion, but I feel like I almost discovered Carrie myself,” Rich Gordon blusters. "Who knows what the next 5 to 10 years may bring for CarrieNEWS.com? We may very well be welcoming our next 7 or 8 visitors to our site! You can't really ask for much more than that!"
After 20 years, Rich Gordon’s forward-thinking vision turns out to have been borderline prophetic as CarrieNEWS.com continues to serve up Carrie Underwood news to the masses.
