From CMA...

BRAD PAISLEY AND CARRIE UNDERWOOD RETURN TO HOST “THE 45th ANNUAL CMA AWARDS” LIVE FROM NASHVILLE ON ABC TELEVISION NETWORK NOVEMBER 9

NASHVILLE – Country superstars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, went directly to the fans today via Facebook to announce that they would be returning to host “Country Music’s Biggest Night(tm)” for a fourth time in 2011. “The 45th Annual CMA Awards” airs live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday, Nov. 9 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“We couldn’t ask for better hosts than Carrie and Brad,” said Steve Moore, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “They have the unique qualities of humor, talent, credibility, and natural rapport that makes them a hit with the fans and the industry audience. The CMA Awards are in great hands with Brad and Carrie at the podium.”

“Hosting the CMA Awards the past three years has been an incredible experience –I love it,” said Underwood. “I’m so honored to be asked back with my friend, Brad. The creative process of getting ready for the show is a blast, and I look forward to sharing Country Music’s Biggest Night with all the fans!”

“It’s hard to believe this will be our fourth year to host the CMA Awards – it’s such an honor to be invited back,” Brad added. “I love working with Carrie, she’s a class act and a complete balance to my non-class act. I’ll try my best to not mess it up.”

Paisley is the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year. He has won 14 CMA Awards since receiving the Horizon Award (now the New Artist Award) in 2000, including Male Vocalist (2007, 2008, 2009) and Album (2006 for Time Well Wasted). He won Musical Event of the Year three times, first in 2004 with Alison Krauss for “Whiskey Lullaby,” second in 2006 for “When I Get Where I’m Going” with Dolly Parton, and a third time in 2009 for “Start a Band” with Keith Urban. He claimed the Vocal Event of the Year trophy in 2001 for “Too Country” with Bill Anderson, George Jones, and Buck Owens and won Music Video of the Year three times, first in 2002 for “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song),” second in 2004 for “Whiskey Lullaby” (again with Krauss), and third in 2007 for “Online.” He is No. 5 on the list of top CMA Award winners of all time.

Brad Paisley – a consummate singer, songwriter, guitarist, and entertainer – has sold more than 12 million albums and has earned 19 No. 1 singles since debuting in 1999. A member of the Grand Ole Opry, Paisley’s innovative and entertaining 2010 “H20 World Tour” was ranked No. 1 Country tour for attendance by Pollstar. His 2011 tour, “H2O II: Wetter & Wilder,” continues the success with tour dates across the US, Canada, and also an international trek that includes London's O2 Arena, Dublin, Stockholm, Oslo, and more.

Underwood has received five CMA Awards in her career, including three consecutive wins as Female Vocalist (2006, 2007, 2008), as well as Single of the Year (2007 for “Before He Cheats”), and the Horizon Award (2006). Underwood, who has also won five Grammy Awards, adds hosting the CMA Awards to a jam-packed year which has seen so far her big screen debut in the motion picture “Soul Surfer” and a promotional trip to Australia for the release of PLAY ON: DELUXE EDITION.

Carrie Underwood is one of music’s most powerful vocalists and has amassed more than 13 million in US album sales and has achieved 13 No. 1 hits since her debut CD in 2005. Six of the No. 1 singles were co-written by Underwood. In 2010, she was the top-ranked female Country touring artist of the year for her “Play On Tour,” which performed in over 100 cities for one million fans throughout the US and Canada. Her career achievements include nearly 60 award trophies, including a membership in the Grand Ole Opry.

Elminated 'Voice' Contestant Cherie Oakley On Getting to No. 1 With Reba | Billboard.com

While NBC's "The Voice" has more than its fair share of performers who have released major label records, made popular videos and toured extensively, Cherie Oakley was the lone contestant with a No. 1 under her belt.

Oakley's song "Turn on the Radio," recorded by Reba McEntire, topped Billboard's Country Songs chart at the beginning of this year, but the now-eliminated songwriter is not sure whether it helped or hindered her chances at making it into coach Christina Aguilera's final four.

"You hope that it's all about the performance," Oakley said during a conference call Wednesday (June 1), the day after viewers of "The Voice" learned her journey had ended. "You never know… but the brain wonders 'did it hurt me?' From a certain perspective, I felt like an underdog. I felt like I stood out as the only person with a country background [on Aguilera's team] and that was drastically different from everyone else. Christina was very vocal about the fact that country was out of her comfort zone."

Oakley's competition was the soulful pop singer Lily Elise "and at the end of the day that's what [Aguilera] gravitated toward," Oakley said.

Although she is not continuing with the competition, Oakley was highly complementary about the guidance Aguilera provided and the opportunity to meet McEntire, with whom she had only spoken on the phone previously.

Oakley wrote "Turn on the Radio" shortly after rains flooded Nashville last year with the intention of recording the song for her debut album. Before she could get into the studio, her deal fell through, but the song wound up in McEntire's hands.

Oakley, who has sang backup for Carrie Underwood and Gretchen Wilson, gave McEntire permission to be the first to record the song provided it would be released as a single.

"She called to celebrate it being No. 1," Oakley said, who at the time was deciding to take a chance with "The Voice."

The shocker, from Oakley's perspective, came when McEntire entered "The Voice" as an adviser to coach Blake Shelton. Their meeting in Los Angeles, however, was shorter than their phone calls. When Oakley returned to Nashville, that all changed when she was invited to McEntire's office for a celebration of the single's success.

"One of the coolest experiences of my life" -- having McEntire thank Oakley for the song on national television -- "I got to share with the world," Oakley said. "She's been an idol of mine my whole life. I'm 10 times the fan now that I've gotten to know her."

The Voice Tv Show: Cherie Oakley Eliminated – Did she Deserve it?

Via twirlit.com...

Lily Elise and Cherie Oakley went head to head today in a battle for Team Christina. The song was Kelly Clarkson’s “Since you’ve been gone.”

Now I didn’t have much of an opinion about either of them. So I had to do some background checking. Cherie Oakley, is the country girl of the group. She’s from Nashville and has been touring around as a backup singer with Carrie Underwood and Gretchen Wilson. She actually wrote a song for Reba “Turn on the Radio” that hit number one recently. The two met for the first time on tonight’s episode.

Twenty nine year old Lily Elise is in the Popular Music Program at USC. She didn’t make it through the first round of the blind audtion but was swooped up when on the second run by Christina.

When the battles started. It took a while to get it going. Lily Elise started off pretty shaky and their voices blended in an odd sort of way. I’m still not sure whether I liked it or not. Although, I can say that her high note was pretty amazing. She can definitely belt out those high notes. Although, when Cherie Oakley started singing – she blew me away. Her voice just sounded so much more polished and professional in my opinion.

But that’s not who Christina picked and to be honest, I’m a little blown away by her decision. I don’t even know what she was looking for – it was pretty obvious to me that Cherie Oakley WAS the better singer.

Should Cherie Oakley have been eliminated tonight?

A special message for everyone who watched Cherie on "The Voice!"

Cherie Oakley is still #1 to us

As you know, Christina picked Lily on last night's "The Voice" so Cherie was sent home. I think Cherie was a thousand times better and was classy with a lot of stage presence. And Cherie did something that no one else with whom she shared the stage did: she sang in tune! So, what do y'all think?
