Carrie Underwood fans were quite up in arms yesterday when a Ottawa radio station announced it would no longer play her music following the trade of Mike Fisher, her husband, from the Senators to the Nashville Predators.
It turns out that it was an attempt at humour by the station, 105.3 KISS FM. I guess the first clue should have been the fact that KISS has never played Carrie’s music as it bills itself as playing “Today’s Best Music.” Its playlist includes the likes of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Usher — no Carrie.
The station was apparently swarmed with phone calls and e-mails because of the “ban” so it posted a message on its website today explaining everything:
A message to our listeners:
Thanks for all your calls, emails and Facebook messages. Yesterday we declared a "ban" on Carrie Underwood's music. As regular listeners we want to thank you for realizing this was our 'tongue in cheek' way of saying goodbye to Mike Fisher – as we do not play Carrie Underwood's music.
Mike was the heart and soul of the Senators and our city's finest ambassador. We will miss him and Carrie – Ottawa's first couple and wish them great success and happiness in their future.
So long Mike! Thanks for the memories!

And for Carrie Underwood fans, you can hear her all the time on our sister station Y101 -Today's Best Country!
