Good impersonations, while often attempted, are rarely achieved.
The likelihood of hearing a bad Jack Nicholson at a party or an abysmal Christopher Walken while clicking through Youtube.com links are far too common. Bad impersonations happen with alarming frequency.
True embodiment requires mental and physical rigor, not to mention a level of dedication most are not willing to put forth ---- that is why with we are usually left amidst mediocre mimicry. But this rarity of skill also provides those capable few with a powerful element: surprise. It takes extraordinary effort to make imitation look effortless, and when people are confronted with a successful use of the artificially familiar, they are almost bewildered.
This is the appeal of Music Legends Then & Now, a concert to be held this Saturday at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater, featuring multiple performers ---- some local and some world-renowned ---- that appear onstage as famous musicians.
