Kara DioGuardi Leaves Idol

(RTTNews) - "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi is officially leaving the hit singing competition.

The songwriter, whose credits include Kelly Clarkson's "Walk Away" and Carrie Underwood's recent hit "Undo It," joined the judges table two years ago. She is a latest in a string of departures as "Idol" undergoes a major overhaul this season.

"I felt like I won the lottery when I joined 'American Idol' two years ago," DioGuardi said, "but I feel like now is the best time to leave."

Simon Cowell left the show at the end of this season to launch a U.S. version of his U.K. show "The X Factor." In the wake of his departure, Ellen DeGeneres, who joined the judges table last year as a replacement for Paula Abdul, announced that she was leaving.

With DioGuardi now gone, only Randy Jackson remains from last year's panel. Replacements have not been named, but such stars as Aerosmith's Steven Tyler have been floated as possible judges.
